Somali President, Prof Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud has today landed in Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport where he was received by high dignitaries including the Prime Minister, Abdi Farah Shirdoon and House Speaker, Prof. Osman Jawari.

The president had being to Turkey for the past few days where he held high level talks with Ankara’s top leadership including Prime Minister Tayip Erdogan and President Abdullahi Gull.

On his arrival, the president first condemned yesterday’s Nairobi blast near a mosque that killed and injured several people including a Kenyan Member of Parliament, Yusuf Hassan.

The president sent his condolences to families and friends of the victims and the Kenya leadership for the loss of civilians.

He wished the injured especially Hon. Yusuf Hassan a quick recovery and urged the Kenya and the Somali populations in the region to work hand in hand in maintaining security.

He noted that Kenya was paying a price for standing with the Somali people and government and as such, such cowardly attacks will not affect the two country’s relations.

In his trip abroad, the president was accompanied by the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Finance Ministers.

About his trip, the President told journalists at the airport that his government has signed agreements and development initiatives with Turkey that will transform Somalia and boost the two countries’ already sparkling ties.

He described his trip as success and noted that most of these development projects will kick off early next year.
