A colorful ceremony is being held in General Kahiye Police Academy to officiate the handing over of power to the newly elected president, Professor Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud.

The event is attended by world leaders and delegates including Djiboutian president, Ismael Omar Gelle, Turkish Deputy Premier, Baker Bozdag and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister among others.

The dignitaries present include President Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud, the parliament speaker, Prof. Mohamed Osman Jawari and the outgoing Somali president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

Deliverance of speech by various dignitaries is expected to begin anytime soon and once the ceremony concludes, Professor Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud will fully assume office as the president of Somalia.

President Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud will then be required to appoint a Prime Minister who will then appoint ministers and assistant ministers .

Security has being stepped up in Mogadishu by AMISOM and the Somali Police Force.
